My first yoga class was at the age of 15. I was very athletic and discovered that practicing yoga had profound benefits both physically and mentally. It was at the age of 20 that I attended my first Bikram yoga class. At the time, I was enjoying working as an intern at the Smithsonian Museum, but I was feeling disconnected living in the city.
After practicing Bikram yoga, I felt more calm, vibrant, happy, and healthy than I had ever felt before. Feeling grateful and blessed to have found this practice, I wanted the opportunity to share Bikram Yoga with others and attended teacher training in Fall 2003. Since then, I have studied and practiced a number of holistic healing modalities.
In 2013, I received my M.S. in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University where my graduate research was on the “Acute Effects of Bikram Yoga on Ambulatory Blood Pressure.” I am continuously inspired by the immediately therapeutic benefits I experience from practicing Bikram yoga, and the transformative effects I witness in many others.
